Prof. West should ask Obama's many corporate/Wall Street backers about such prospects for the coming years. I'm sure they're totally against the culture of greed.

BTW, can we stop comparing Obama to MLK? The latter was the real deal, while the former is about to take control of mechanisms that King opposed and fought against.

Dennis, I have to tell you, even though I am coming from the same thought arena as the white liberal friends you poked at, I thought your "That Thing With Feathers" post was really good.

That said, I really want to see Obama win. It's not out of some Messianic delusion. But I believe the man will try his best to move this country in a better direction, and I support a lot of his platform.

Here's to watching the results come in.

Heard the McCain spokesman, er.... robot/coworker spout socialism talking points verbatim today . Then complain about the country being too socialist already, before he & a fellow traveler went into what's wrong with the black people. *sigh* Never occured to either that wealth redistribution isn't a one-way street, or hasn't already happened . Didn't have enough time to argue effectively , so managed to just argue myself into holding it in, 'til another time. :)

Hey! Dennis Dark-Cloud , keepin' it real . :) Yep, that's the question; how much of his sponsors' bidding will he do?
I was contemplating a write-in, in reponse to the FISA sellout,(I'm in NY, so it wouldn't matter) but decided to pull the lever for Obama, figuring a GOP-crushing is the higher priority.

Btw, re the last post , I was second in a line of 2 (for 2 voting machines,@~ 3pm) . As one of election workers knew me, I wasn't asked for ID .No election day nightmares here. One of the situations where this area's over-investment* in public services comes in handy . As she flipped through the sign-in book, it looked as though ~3/4 had already voted .

lol.

I'm just so happy Bush and Cheney are almost out of there and it looks like the Dems have it -- that even Dennis Dark-Cloud can't get me down today.

Dennis Perrin

I've said that I, too, support an Obama victory, indeed, a complete Dem sweep, because I want the mules to have the whole thing so we can see what they'll do with their control. Based on history, I'm pretty sure how it will go, but nothing's written in stone. We'll see.

However, I don't believe for a minute that liberals will hold O's feet to the fire. Not happening, not with the right wing already acting crazy toward him. But even if the right was quiet, liberals would still support O no matter what. Many like the system as it is. They just want one of their "own" to manage the empire.

Enjoy it while it lasts. After Jan 20, the gloves will be coming off, esp overseas. The Afghans better start finding some good hiding spots before O expands that lovely little war.

And don't worry about Bush and Cheney. Thanks in large part to the collaborationist efforts of the Dems, both are going off richer and more secure than ever. Some victory.

You're right there.

What I'm hoping for is just less screw ups. In every way. I can't imagine *everything* will be done wrong like *everything* has been done wrong for eight years now.

I'm not *worried* about Bush and Cheney. I just want them to go. Scoot. Scadaddle! Shoo. Shoo now. Take their billions and be gone with them.

Wow, somebody needs a hug.

What I think we'll have is a president with some brains who is actually in charge of his administration and not just a smiling puppet; who will put other smart people in positions where they might do some good instead of hiring cronies and unqualified donors; who, by his very person will help us demonstrate to the world that we are not The Great Satan; who will awaken us to our better nature, call us to service rather than scare us into hiding.

Of course, it is easy to say that both parties are the same, that all presidents will become corrupt and fail, that political promises are all made cynically with fingers crossed. And since no one is perfect it will be possible to "prove" this is all true. If one is so disposed, why doesn't one move to a tropical third world country, sit on the beach in cutoffs and flip flops, get hammered on rum drinks every day, and let the rest of us have a moment of hope?
