I think it's funny. No. Funny's not the right word. It's got "fun" in it and what's going on in our country is not fun at all. So maybe it's sad. Sad doesn't quite fit either. I'm not sure what word I should use to describe the current status of the Cindy Sheehan protest. It's just pretty cool because...
She is winning.
I had to drive to Columbus today and thought about this a lot on my little roadtrip. Got back, checked in with my bud, Father Bobness (although he says Sheehan has won) and his post inspired me just to blast this into the ether. (The Bobness also writes of his preference for undergarments. Don't by shy, he's not! Got ahead and read it. And while you're at it, read this little masterpiece. Looooove him.)
Cindy Sheehan has actually chased Bush out of Texas. Think about that. He fled. He left. He didn't just motorcade passed her to a local fundraiser. No. He wizzed passed her, jumped on a plane and flew to one of the reddest of all red states. He flew to Idaho, where he won 69% of the vote in the election.
Cindy Sheehan stopped W's five week vacation. Cold.
George W. Bush should be ashamed of himself.
Cindy Sheehan should be very proud.
Laura Bush should be embarrased.
Now her protesting has to actually start making a real difference. I wouldn't be surprised if an enormous amount of body armour is manufactured and shipped to Iraq a-sap. Or some such other action. I know, I know -- they'll just turn it into a huge PR victory, but at least real progress would be made.
Bush will never back down. He'll never bring the troops home now.
But maybe Cindy Sheehan has forced Bush to listen to Rosemary Palmer, mother of Lance Cpl. Edward Schroeder II, from Ohio, who was killed earlier this month in Iraq.
After Mrs. Palmer buried her son, she made the following statement, "Fight this war right, or get out."
Obviously he's listening, because it's got him on the run. Let's just see if he actually hears any of it.
I agree with Father Bob. Cindy has already won.
That, unfortunately, creates its own set of new issues. Cindy is not a polished media person and sometimes says things that hurt the cause, like equating Afghanistan with Iraq. Her victory is in the grass roots movement spawned by Camp Casey and it would be best to just let it ride. I don't think she should remain a high profile leader much longer.
I would compare Cindy Sheehan's role to Rosa Parks'. Mrs. Parks made her point and the momentum then took on a life of its own.

What does it say about us, I wonder, that we would swallow the snake oil rather than heed the one who "calls'm as she sees'm" simply because the snake oil salesman is polished in the presentation of his lies?

Cindy could stand to lose some poundage, so the hunger strike should do her some good...who is she/you trying to fool into believing she will do it to the end? LMAO - it's all just publicity and a money-making scheme for her/you.
her stupid publicity stunt aka: hunger strike will just mean more hot dogs for ME on the 4th! LMAO
PULEEEZE do the hunger strike all the way to the end, Cindy! PLEASE!!!

what the polls show :
The polls on supporting the atrocities of
George Bush / Dick Cheney / Aipac & Israel's
WAR , shows that only 28% of American people
support any of the foreign or domestic policies
of this administration.
80% of that 28% have less then a seventh grade
education, listen to talk radio, don't comprehend
if they can read & write, live in a double wide
south of the Mason/Dixon line, and believes
any thing a preacher tells them about RAPTURE,
and the end of the world is coming.
The other 20% have a high school education in
auto mechanics and wood shop, believe in prayer
in school, even though they never pray except in
fox holes or prison, but believe what propaganda
they hear on Sunday mornings.
Thankfully 72% of Americans can read, write, and
understand we need change from trusting the
hypocrisy of Political & religious leaders of today,
that are in reality embedded in CORRUPTION
with organized crime. Bought out by special interest
and investments in Corporation greed.
2008 elections will prove interesting. Will the
polls that show Americans concern actually
bear it out. OR will the electronic voting
machines be just another FIX and Fraud
election. As HAD been the Elections of 2000
& 2004.
Florida in 2000---Ohio in 2004. Looks like
they are setting up Missouri for 2008..
