I was listening to old Marvin Gaye the whole time I read your post, so it was hard to place, but I KNEW I knew where that title came from, and I'm proud to say I figured it out before I got to the end, even though I was hearing "Hitchhike" by then.

I've always loved you, Blue Girl, but holy shit: Buffalo Springfield, 1969? You really know how to turn up the heat.

The Fat Lady Sings

My best friend Amy and I are that close; though we don't share a generation like you and Jennie. But we are sisters of the heart, she and I. We used to live inside of each other's pocket when we lived practically ‘round the corner from each other. Now the connection's more electronic; but I do look forward to those times when we do manage to get together.

And I understand your connection to music. I can track my life through its soundtrack. Ask me where I was or how I was feeling at any particular moment - and I will tell you what I was listening to at the time. From 'Pretty Woman' by Roy Orbison and 'Ferry 'Cross the Mersey' by Gerry and the Pacemakers to 'Bad Day' by Daniel Powter - I can track my emotional life forward and back, song by song. At the moment? Santana – ‘Supernatural’ – and my favorite track, ‘Smooth’. Just give me five minutes alone in a room with Rob Thomas. That boy is prime!

When I read the title for your post the song that popped into my head was "It's So Nice To Be With You!"!!! I was happy to hear a young Neil Young at the end. I'm happy to hear Neil at any age for that matter. I haven't heard that song in ages.

yaya

Kevin Wolf

Blue, you have too much fun!

Adorable Girlfriend

I second that Kevin!

Claire

BG have you seen the new Neil Young film? It's supposed to be good (I believe). I haven't seen it, but would like to.

You rock.

Michael Bains

I can't listen to .mp3s over the internets here at work, but I still got chills just reading the intro...

Neil was a godlet to me in HS as well.

Just a sec . . .

Ok. I had to read the comments to see if anyone else noticed that your name was blue girl, even in HS!

And I thought it was just a blogonym. {shakin'head}

MB -- that's my name, don't wear it out.

Ooops! That's Kevin's line!

Sorry, Kevin!

BG,
I cannot keep the tears from pouring out of my eyes. Get this.....as I was opening your letter and reading your blog, Addie's computer was playing "A Song For You" by Leon Russell. It was from the Birthday CD that you had made for me. She had confiscated it awhile back and we are using that particular song for my neice Jessie's wedding day. The timing was amazing (or scary!!) Here I am reading your blog with that beautiful song that you turned me on to playing in the background. " And the music in our relationship just keeps on playing!! " - is what I am thinking. Addie was standing behind me and I was just balling. It made me very emotional. Lord knows what she was thinking!! Actually I know she loves it because she loves you. I loved the story and it brought back so many feelings of being young and how important THE MUSIC was and always will be. God - Songbird - one of the most Beautiful songs ever! I loved hearing "I am a Child." We have definitely given a part of our souls to each other over the years and for much of it, didn't even realize it was going on at the time. I love that we have so much more to go! I love you blue girl; you hold a piece of me that no one else does. Sometimes when I am feeling a bit like an orphan (especially now that I am sick and feeling a bit low) there is a feeling of still wanting to be taken care of that can only come from your past. You definitely gave me that today. I can't wait to have our dinner. Lets get really sexy that night. We can get ready together like the old days.......blare all of our GOOD music, put our makeup on, do our hair, drink wine, sing and talk and then knock the socks off of our deserving, loving great husbands who GET US, unlike Bruce K. and John S.!!
I love you, "Sister of the Moon"
Jennie

blue girl

Ok. Now I'm crying!

And guess what? I *just* did my eyelashes!!

...we both know how important *that* is.

Thanks for your sweet comment.

Lets get really sexy that night. We can get ready together like the old days.......blare all of our GOOD music, put our makeup on, do our hair, drink wine, sing and talk...

You got it!

...I'm going to start burning CDs now...

:)

Tell Addie if she *ever* wants to put her poetry here on blue girl, just to email me -- and she can be El Guest Blogger Extraordinairre!

Kisses.

Almost Canadian

MY GOD IS BLUE GIRL'S BLOG GOING TO BECOME SOME CHICK MOVIE-SMOOCH FEST. THE HORROR, THE HORROR.

blue girl

Um.

I can think of *someone* in this comment thread who may not be as *deserving* as my best friend, love of my life, smoochy, smoochy, lovey-dovey, sexy girlfriend Jennie *thinks* he is.

Jennie

I daresay that ALMOST CANADIAN is having a little "Chick Smooch-fest" fantasy! Confusing THE HORROR with THE EUPHORIA!! I know how you Canadians think; I used to date one!!

blue girl

You know Jennie, I thought it was the one line you wrote...

...do our hair

Cuz, you know -- he doesn't have much to work with and I think there's a little jealousy there.

:)

But, you're probably right. I know *lots* of boys -- some Canadian, some not -- who have those fantasies.

SUFFER!!!!

Almost Canadian

Unless it involves hockey and Molson I'm just not into it. After reading this post I had to go to a strip club just to get my manhood back.

Jennifer

Almost Canadian- I believe the men on Madison Ave are currently telling your gender that if you want to restore your manhood you need to rush out and by a Hummer...

blue girl

I had to go to a strip club just to get my manhood back.

Are you living in a Miller Lite commercial? What is that? A man law?

Pshaw!

Jennie, tell *The Cooler* that he'll have his hands full on the 25th -- Shallow Hal here, I mean Almost Canadian may have other plans....

Brando

BG, my lovely wife would have joined you guys in the Billie Jean Dance Party...

Kevin Wolf

Yep. Only BG can throw a successful party online.

Blue, feel free to steal my lines or anything else you want.

BTW: I reposted the music files on my last couple of blog entries in a link that should allow you to download them. Maybe if I'm lucky they'll turn up later in one of your great posts about listening to music in the car.
