Shelley of At Home In Rome, decided to take a month-long break, went to Rome, met her future husband on her very first day and is now on her honeymoon, living a fantasy life abroad while I sit here in my mansion, flowerless and feeling sorry for myself.
Just kidding. Cleveland's only a 15 minute trip. And I am there when the next opportunity presents itself.
From Shelley's post, Bread and Tulips...
When I got here and started living day to day, I had absolutely no extra money. For anything. Even though I was managing to scrape together a bit here and there tutoring English, it was the first time in my life I had to ask myself questions like, “Can I afford shampoo and conditioner? Or just shampoo?”
(snip) ...are you impressed with my Italiano?
Anyone who has gone on this kind of an adventure knows that really making it in a foreign country involves an unspeakable amount of hard work. Embarrassment. Fear. And those who succeed can look back and know that blind faith comes into play. A lot.
When I had almost nothing else besides my family and friends back home, Alessandro, and my blind faith, I started writing down the things I wanted in my life here. Kind of a wish list, convinced that I was headed in that direction. I’ll never forget: one of the things I wrote, one of the goals I hoped I would reach, was to be able to afford flowers for no reason. Flowers, and a daily newspaper.
(snip dello snip che snipping via)
...they are a reminder of where a little blind faith and a dream can take you.
Do you think Shelley was ever able to buy her flowers? Well, you'll have to read her entire post to find out. Wonder where Shelley and her husband are honeymooning? Maybe Cleveland! You never know.
Punta del cappello to M.A. Peel, who's had her own wonderful adventures abroad. Read Travels with Cadfael. M.A.'s stories of time spent in Rome, Tuscany, and Elba.

My link idea did not work. Anyone know what I'm saying up there? Anyone who gets all my Italiano up there wins a free cannoli.
I'll get you started. "Snip" in Italian is "Snip." At least according to Babel Fish.
Buona fortuna!
You're very sexy when you blog in Italian.

You need to get out of the mansion more often. But don't go to the warehouse. You never know who'll you'll find there.

Oh fine, Larry! So you have a keen ear when it come to the idiomatic side of the language...
Do you get to eat the cannoli in BG's mansion?

Oddly enough, I sent myself flowers today.
Just because.
They'll be delivered tomorrow.

Shayera, That's so great! I did the same thing. But, I didn't have them delivered. I went and picked them out myself.

I think that last bit translates into "The Skimmer should be on the lookout for strange Italian men bringing flowers to the mansion and/or country club." But the Babelfish translation could be off. ;-)

Jennifer,
If I get to The Mansion, I'll eat The Cannoli.

Hi MA,
I can't believe no one's commented on that Dean Martin video. If he's not an absolute doll, then I don't know what a doll is. And listen to how he sings "love" at approx. 38 seconds. Beautiful!
