This is what all of my hostas are supposed to look like.
And some of them do. I snapped this shot just a few minutes ago. Pretty, pretty.
Here's what the rest of them look like.
Not so pretty. But, obviously delicious.
I think I have a suspect.
Bummer!
Are you sure it's not your McMansion neighbor?? Some of those hostas were big enough to pass for trees...

:)
Aren't they pretty (and such a great border) when they're not all eaten up? I'm mad at myself because I didn't get out there and take precautions with the various gross stuff I could've been spraying on them to keep the damn deer away.
Sigh. Oh well. At least the blooms are pretty.

We have lots of deer here too - in fact I see them bounding across the street early a.m. and two of my neighbors have great gardens which get chomped, chewed on etc. I've offered to herd them away with The Beast - the mere sound of the brakes clicking on the w/c oughta do it. lemme know...

Those damn deer. Same thing with my mother's hostas. She's moved them to a place the deer can't get (in pots on our back deck) and replaced them with ferns, because (as of yet) the damn deer haven't eaten those.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Res or a stoner on a bender! Don't be so sure it was the deer...

Deer? The McMansionite? pshaw! - Somebody looking for uncontaminated veggies. :) ( They are edible )
A: Liquid Fence It's awful, but you'll only smell it for a couple hours, but they'll smell it for weeks . (Do it when the wind is blowing to McMansionward - If there's any comment , then , your response : "The deer used to be in the woods , but now......*shrug*.... they have to look elsewhere." ) :))))))

At least you can shoot and eat deer. Try that with slugs, which are what used to do for my hostas.

Hosta chum. With the proper equipment you could feed your family all winter.
